The surgeon told us that it will take approximately two hours to repair his lip. Then, depending on how he is doing with the anesthetic, they may go ahead and work on his soft palate. He will have to be on a liquid diet for 7 - 10 days, then soft food. I think that might be frustrating for him because he sure likes to eat! But, in the end it will all be worth it.
Our other option for surgery was in August. We opted for June because the speech pathologist told us the it's good that he's not speaking yet and developing bad habits due to the cleft. Well, it's time to get it done because everyday he's wanting to say something new. My baby's growing up so fast!
Please keep us all in your prayers as we approach the surgery date. Thanks!

Hi Joan -
ReplyDeleteGreat to see all is well. We will be praying for the surgery. Jon is adjusting and really becoming a regular part of our family.
We will keep following the blog to see how you are all doing.
Love,
Robyn
Joan and Guillermo,
ReplyDeleteI've had such a good time "wasting" my afternoon following your WHOLE blog! Thank you for sharing your joy. You know, I can really see Guille's development from his shy quietness in China to his command of the situation in your home in those later pictures. :-)
I can't wait to meet him at the shower next week!
With love,
Cindy for all the Marsches
Wow!! We will definitley be praying for you all as you prepare for the surgery. Trusting that God will do some great things in that process. He looks great!! It is fun to see him progress even by blog from this distance.
ReplyDeleteWe miss you all and think of you often.
