Pictures, pictures, pictures....

Here are a few more pictures from "Gotcha day--6 months later" and a few from this past week. Some of them don't have captions.... You can use your imagination, OK?

I'm working on this dressing myself thing.
Getting the back part of the pants is kinda tricky!
Oh well, it works for me!

OK, Dad, hold still.

Cutting around the ears is always the tricky part.
And, after the haircut, it's straight to the shower to get all those prickly little hairs off.

Ya like my new haircut?
Ya like ranch dressing? I do! Straight up!

Being silly before bed.

Is this the way the shepherds kept their heads warm?

Snuggling with my panda bear.

Before I go to bed I have to make sure my panda is sleeping.
Shhh, the bear is sleeeeeeeeeeeping.
Good night.

GOTCHA... 6 months ago!

Six months ago today our little fella was first placed in our arms. He was so scared, and yet so brave. Everything he had ever known was about to change. He has learned so much and gone through so many changes. He's quite a little trooper. What a blessing he has been to us, as his parents, and to all who have met him. The time has flown by so quickly.

Today we went to campus to eat lunch with Guillermo. Before we know it, it will be Guille that we are going to campus to visit. But, let's not think about that right now. For now, let's just enjoy this incredible Gift of Love, watching him grow day by day.

Here are some pictures of "Gotcha day" and some from today... 6 months later.

What a difference

November 4

This is the same outfit I wore when I first met Mommy & Daddy.
I've grown quite a bit, but it still fits...kind of!

Speaking loudly... without words.

Guille's sleeping, so this post is by his Mom. No pictures tonight... but a message too priceless to overlook.

Today was filled with ups & downs for Guille. This morning I had several things I needed to do and he played very quietly by himself while I worked on things. I had just checked "facebook" and told a friend how well he was doing and that I needed to go spend time with him. As soon as I sent that message he pushed some button on the computer and it all went blank! Yikes! Automatically, I said, "Oh, Guille!" The poor boy teared up... and so did I. We snuggled for a bit and didn't worry about the computer. (When I checked later, all was well with the computer.)

After snuggling for a while, we decided it was nice enough we could go outside and play for a while before lunch. We explored the acre of land that is overgrown. We played in the leaves. We played cars on the front porch. We had a great time.

We had a quick lunch then off for a nap. Guille had a hard time falling asleep... maybe because I was keyed up knowing that he needed to go to sleep "NOW" in order to get a decent nap in. I had a Dr. appt. and he only had a little over an hour to sleep... ok... less than an hour by the time he finally went to sleep. He doesn't take too kindly to being woken up, but was content to sit in his carseat for the close to one hour drive.

Guillermo went with us, to keep Guille company while I visited with the Dr. (Regular checkup... nothing to get excited about.) About 5 minutes after I left the waiting area I heard a wail. I knew it was Guille. 15 minutes later he was still crying, and I was still waiting for the Dr., so I went out to the waiting area to see if I could calm him down. Not much luck! Then the Dr. came so I handed him back to Guillermo and went about my business. An hour later he was still crying. His little face was so red. Poor little guy. When we left the Dr. office, he was fine. Hmmm.

It was getting late, so we stopped to get something to eat. He didn't eat much supper, which is VERY unusual for him. Hopefully he isn't coming down with something.

Once we got home, he played happily. He giggled so much. He was so happy. He likes to be HOME. I think it's his favorite place!!

Bedtime... first we must procrastinate and make sure every toy is in its place, the dirty socks are in the laundry basket and the water glass is filled. We read a Bible story then got into bed. He's at the point where he likes to lay in the twin bed for a while before going to his crib to sleep. We prayed and sang "Jesus loves me". He is learning the signs for "Jesus loves me" and often requests (using signs) the "Bible-Jesus song". Tonight was no different. We sang it 3 or 4 times, then tried to go to sleep.

OK... This part is why I decided to blog on this tonight... It is SOOOO PRECIOUS!

He lay there quietly for a couple of minutes, then tapped my arm and started signing "Jesus... Thank you!" He repeated the signs several times. So we prayed again and told Jesus Thank you for Guille, Mommy, Daddy, etc. Again he got quiet, then tapped my arm again. "Jesus, Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Then he sat up, looked at me and gave me the biggest grin, then lay back down and finally went to sleep.

Thank you, Jesus, for my precious son! What a priceless gift you have entrusted us with. I pray that he will always look to you and be thankful in his heart. And, in the words of my little son, who can't quite say them yet, "Jesus, THANK YOU, Thank you, Thank you!" Good night.

More Catching up

I think that with this post I will be caught up on what has been going on with me. Hopefully we'll do better at posting now that things are back to "normal". So, let's get blogging!....

Wow, is my hand really that big?

Playing with my trucks while Daddy worked at the observatory.
(Which still isn't working right, for those of you who are wondering.)

A lovely day for playing in the gravel.

Take my picture! Quick! I'm going to move again.

More pretty leaves.

My, what big lips I have!

Mommy decided that since I have missed out on celebrating my birthday, we would celebrate my 2 1/2 year birthday.

We invited the neighbors over for supper and cake.

There were even candles on the cake.

I had help blowing them out, since I haven't quite figured out the whole idea of blowing.

Then it was time to "dig in".
Mommy said that generally a kid only gets to dig into the birthday cake on his first birthday. But, since this is the first birthday cake I've ever had, I got to do it too.

I wasn't too sure about it.

But after I got a bite, I thought this was all too much fun!
I can't wait for my REAL birthday party, only 6 months from now!

The cake was so yummy.

I even got a couple of presents.

We read a story together.

The big man on campus.
Wandering around campus waiting for Daddy.

What a pretty tree!

training chop sticks
OK, so it's a clothes pin.

"Aaargh!" said the pirate with the belt wrapped twice around his waist.

So much for THAT leaf pile!

Exploring

Ice!

Trick or Treat!
I thought it a little strange that Mommy dressed me up in my Chinese outfit the other day.

I decided to play along and let her take a few pictures.

I even modeled the back of my outfit.

Then Daddy came out with a bag and said,
"Come on, Guille, let's go to the neighbors house."

Making sure Mommy is coming too.

Still not quite sure what's going on.

The neighbor came to the door with a big bowl of candy.

She told me to take some.
Then she said to take some more.

I dumped it into the bag.
This was starting to be fun.

OK, got that done. Let's go see if any other neighbors will give me candy.

Wow, all the neighbors are giving me candy.
I think I like this!

By the time we went back home, I had quite a stash.

Look at all this yummy stuff!

Can I have some, please?

Yuuuu-uuummm!
Can't wait for to do this again.
Thanks, neighbors! What a fun thing to do.
