Officially Jennai
December 11 is adoption day for Jennai. This morning we went back to the civil
affairs office to sign the adoption papers, meet with the notary and finalize
her adoption. We came back to the hotel
and had some leftover pizza for lunch then all three kids and I took naps! While we were sleeping Guillermo went down to
the lobby to work on the computer and find out why the internet wasn’t working
in our room. After putting on a show
last night for those in the lobby as I fell asleep while writing the blog post
I told him that we NEEDED to get the internet working in the room. (At one point I woke up and 6 people were
standing there watching me sleep. How
exciting for them, huh?)
At 2:40 we went down to the lobby to take a picture of all
the kids who were adopted by our group.
It might not be the best picture, but it IS a picture of all the sweet
little ones. Three of the families left
today for Hong Kong and will fly home tomorrow.
We have enjoyed getting to know them and hopefully we can keep in touch. The other family will leave tomorrow and then
we will be here “by ourselves” for the next week. We won’t really be by ourselves as this hotel
is full of families adopting children.
We’ve met people from all over the US and some from Canada, Norway, Sweden,
France and Spain. This next week we will
have a few appointments (medical exam, TB test for Jennai, consulate
appointment) but will have more time to do some sightseeing, playing in the
parks near the hotel and just relaxing.
It has been a busy two weeks and I think we’re all tuckered out.
After the three families left, we went to the securities
building to apply for Jennai’s passport.
We got there just in time! We
were the last family that they took today and we didn’t even have to wait in
line to get the picture taken. We did
have to wait for about 15-25 minutes while they did something but it wasn’t too
bad. Isaac was running around and I went
to direct him back to our seats. He
slipped out of my grasp, bonked his head into the edge of a table and fell
backwards and hit his head on the floor.
A good 1-2 punch! He got a cut
above his eye but it didn’t slow him down much.
Hopefully it doesn’t scar too badly.
We came back to the hotel and “enjoyed” some McDonald’s
hamburgers and chicken nuggets out at the playground. The kids all enjoyed having time to run and
play. Jennai sure likes the swing and
slide. I can’t wait til she gets her
legs and she can run and play with her brothers. She does adore them and they adore her. At one point Isaac ran back to the table (if
there is food, he can find it!). We told
him to come back and he showed up with Jennai’s bottle. I thought HE was going to drink it but he
toddled over to Jennai and gave her a drink.
What a sweet big brother.
God has truly blessed us with three amazing children. Yep, they are going to keep us busy, but we
will be blessed to watch them grow into the treasures that God has created them
to be. Thanks for your continued
prayers.
