Isaac's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Wednesday, Feb. 27. He needs to be at the hospital at 9:15 to get registered and all the pre-op fun stuff. They said the surgery will probably start about 1 1/2 hours later but didn't say how long it should last. Hopefully this procedure will take care of his hydronephrosis (enlarged kidneys) and thickened bladder. Hopefully he's not in too much pain after it's all over.
Please pray that he won't be tooooooo scared in the morning. He really doesn't like going to the doctor. Last time we went for testing, he had "ouchies" for about 2 days afterward every time he had to go to the bathroom. I told him a little bit this evening, since Guille has been saying for days, "Isaac, do you want to go to the doctor? Do you want to get a shot?" Oh, what fun to be the big brother who doesn't have to go to the doctor (this time!).
Guille and Jennai will be spending the day with Elizabeth, Michelle and Lynn. I'm sure they will all have a great time. This is, however, the first time Jennai has stayed somewhere without me or her daddy. I think she'll do fine, but you can pray for her (and Michelle and Lynn).
I'll update you when I can. Thanks for your prayers.

February update
Proud of their duplo swords
Only thing is... they weren't strong enough.
Jennai likes playing anything the boys do.
Not too sure about the bunny ears.
Sometimes doing the "cute pose" can be overdone...
... Regardless of the pose... she sure is cute!
Surprise!! Guille and Elizabeth were caught off guard.
We had a couple of nice days where there was still snow,
but it wasn't so cold.
Guille has wanted to build a snowman all winter long.
So, he started rolling the bottom snowball in the back yard.
It got too big so he abandoned that one and
built TWO snowmen in the front yard.
Isaac posing beside one of Guille's snowmen.
Taking a ride on the donkey.
The artist at work... such concentration.
Putting on the final details.
Smile, Mr. Snowman.
Gathering sticks for arms.
Before we went out to play in the snow,
I was shoving the lining back into Isaac's boots
I felt something poking my hand. I figured it was a little stick or something.
After it kept poking me I yanked my hand out of the boot and noticed
something fall to the floor. THIS is what was poking my hand!
Seriously? A wasp, in February??
Jennai is getting to be quite the climber. She gets around quickly
and gets where she wants to go. She was on the other side of the living room
when I went to get something. I came back to her sitting on top of this little stool.
Isaac wanted his picture taken on the stool too.
It's a little easier for him to sit on it.
For Chinese New Year,
the three donned their festive Chinese outfits and
posed for a couple of pictures before heading
to a restaurant to join other families in the area who have
adopted from China.
Guille and Isaac took part in the Dragon Dance.
They made lanterns out of construction paper.
After leaving the restaurant we noticed Ice Sculptures
in the park. So we got out and walked around to see them.
They were pretty impressive.
It would have been fun to watch the carving.
Isaac and a sea horse.
Friends
Little joeys on the kangaroo's lap.
The princess in her crystal carriage.
Guille
Posing with a ballerina.
Family picture in front of a huge ice snowflake.
Hmmm... something didn't go quite right when putting on this shirt.
It didn't look too comfortable, but Isaac didn't seem to mind.
He was proud that he'd put it on by himself.
(Generally he does a good job of dressing.)
Isaac discovered a way to keep the bowling pins
from falling down. Prop them up in shoes!
Both Isaac and Jennai enjoyed celebrating
Elizabeth's birthday. Guille enjoyed it too, but he was too busy
playing to get his picture taken.
Fascination with hair bows finally got to Isaac.
He insisted on having one in his hair. Jennai joined in the fun
and finally let me put one in her hair.
I had a helper to sort the laundry.
Socks go in boots, right?
This little one does NOT like to go to bed.
She was NOT tired!
Do you believe her??
That's the month in pictures. A few things that happened this month that are not documented with pictures (yet) are that Jennai saw a team of doctors and therapists and started the process of getting prostheses for her legs and arm! She was measured and casted and sent home with one silicone "sock" to wear on each leg for an hour each day. That way she can get used to wearing it and make sure that her skin doesn't react to it. She doesn't like putting it on, but once it's on she doesn't seem to mind it. She goes back on March 6 for another fitting and will get more "socks" and maybe even little "feet" and a beginner's arm. We're excited to see how everything goes. She is doing physical therapy and strengthening her legs and core muscles. She's starting to "stand up" against things and "take steps". She loves to go for walks!
Isaac will have surgery on February 27 to see if they can fix the problems that are causing his kidneys to be enlarged and his bladder thickened. He had more tests done on the 14th and he was NOT a happy camper. Pray that he will do OK with the surgery and will not be in too much pain. He's making strides in potty training and hopefully this will make things easier instead of being a setback.
Guille is reading!
He has even started taking his reading book and will read one or two stories, out loud, on his own. It was a difficult start and I was wondering if he'd ever catch on, but I think he's finally getting it! Yes, he still has a lot of phonics rules to learn and apply, but he's on his way!
I'll try to get a picture of Jennai wearing her "sock" and post that. And, I'll try to get an update on Isaac's surgery on here before toooooo long after the 27th. But, for now... that's all from here.

Already February! Where did January go?
We joined the ranks of the "flu crew" these past couple of weeks.
Jennai had the flu, not the puking flu,
just the respiratory, fever, etc. flu.
Poor thing. She was a trouper, though, and kept plugging along.
We thought the rest of us had dodged the bullet.
Then last Saturday Guille started coughing a bit. By Sunday morning
he was coughing enough we kept him home from church.
Sunday through the night his cough got worse.
Monday, first thing, I took him to the doctor and they
gave him a nebulizer treatment and an injection. The doctor said
that if he wasn't feeling better in 2 hours they would admit him to
the hospital! YIKES! Well, the shot helped, so no hospital.
He reacted to the pills he was supposed to take and ended up getting
a second shot on Tuesday and another on Friday.
ENOUGH ALREADY!
Today he was feeling pretty good
with very little coughing!
Thank you, Jesus!
So far, Isaac is staying well. We're praying it stays that way.
We did manage to get a few pictures taken over the past weeks.
Here are a few for you to enjoy.
Isaac has moved up to Legos and
Guille is happy to share with him.
The two have spent hours building together.
Super kids on the look out!
With super heroes like this
what do we have to fear?
Oh, what fun it is to.... vacuum!?
Remember when they used to put prizes in cereal boxes?
Look what came in MY cereal box!
Ya don't get treats like that in cereal boxes these days!
Have hat and mittens... ready to go!
And yep, I'm cute!
Oh dear! A mitten fell off!
Isaac has been working on the "cute pose"
and Jennai has been trying to teach him how to do it.
Like this??
Oh, dear, this is harder than I expected.
Hmmf.
One more try! I think I've got it!
Yep, I'm pretty cute, too!
Our church has a Winter Carnival for the kids.
They get to play games, jump in the bouncy house,
win prizes, eat cotton candy, popcorn,
snow cones, cupcakes, nachos...
(hmmm, fill 'em up with sugar and send 'em home!)
Elizabeth got to join us and we all had a good time
of fun and fellowship
on a cold and snowy evening.
Cotton candy! Yum!
Actually, Isaac wasn't too sure about it.
He had a little bit then passed it off to the rest of us.
Jennai wasn't too sure about it either... but I enjoyed it!
Isaac got one of the rings on the snowman.
Jennai decided she would just wear the ring
as a bracelet instead of throwing it.
Guille got a strike in penguin pin bowling.
That's our update for now.
Stay cool... but stay warm!
See ya later!
